3 Tips To Be Proactive in Delegating

When it comes to delegating, it’s always better to be proactive rather than reactive. Think ahead and don’t wait until you are feeling overwhelmed to decide to delegate tasks. Here are our three top tips for how you can be proactive in your delegating:

Stay Ahead of Time Management

Write down your tasks to know what your responsibilities are each day. You may be able to manage tasks easily if they are only taking you 15 minutes. However, as you become busier, those tasks can take longer and longer to get done. If a task takes up to 30 minutes, it’s time to consider delegating.

Make Sound Decisions

By staying ahead in your business, you will think clearly and make sound decisions. If you wait until it’s too late, you may get to a point where you feel like you are drowning in your to-do lists. That may cause you to start making decisions based on desperation instead of quality, sound decisions that consistently propel your business forward.

Know Your Who

It’s best to have a plan when it comes to delegating. You don’t have to have all of the fine details figured out. Who do you want to delegate tasks to when you think big picture? Do you want to delegate to an employee you’ve already hired? Do you want to hire a Virtual Assistant? Do you want to use a VA agency? Start to think and do your research.

If a Virtual Assistant is a right fit for you, do a little research and ask around to see who others recommend. If you like the idea of using an agency, start looking at websites and business social media accounts and sign up for their newsletters. That way, you can watch and get to know them. This takes a step out of the equation when it is time to delegate.

Don’t wait until it’s too late. Delegation is not an “IF.” It’s a “WHEN!”
